Meet the Mother Daughter Duo Behind Haute and Holistic

Dr. Elizabeth Trattner

Elizabeth TrattnerI am a Florida and National Board Certified Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture and have a private practice in Miami Beach specializing in women’s health, autoimmune diseases, allergies, environmental illnesses and weight management. Since 1991, I’ve been advancing the concepts of Integrative Medicine combining my expertise in acupuncture and oriental medicine with nutritional counseling. I am a nationally recognized expert in integrative medicine, drawing upon both ancient and conventional approaches to provide what I refer to as “ancient wisdom for modern women.” TM

I am a graduate of the Acupuncture Institute in Miami, FL, the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine’s Integrative Health & Lifestyle program, and the only acupuncture physician in the country to have been invited and completed a prestigious medical rotation at the University of Arizona’s Center of Integrative Medicine. Drawing on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a range of natural modalities, and over 25 years of training under Andrew Weil, MD, Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine of the College of Medicine, University of Arizona,  I’ve helped patients improve and take control of their health and maintain their optimal weight.

I was one of the first to open an Integrative Medical practice in Miami and am a strong believer in personalized medicine. Today, I practice Integrative and Chinese medicine while providing acupuncture, herbs, supplements, and counseling on Chinese dietetics and western nutrition. As an ardent believer in combining Chinese medicine with western medicine I actively triage patients to other physicians for comprehensive care.

My  nutritional counseling background stems from my chef’s training certificate earned at the Natural Gourmet Institute in 1991. Early in my career while working with the President of the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, pioneering integrative protocols for pre- and post-plastic surgery to speed up healing times, reduce side effects and enhance outcomes.

I was recognized by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in a feature article in their industry-wide publication. I appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show alongside my mentor Dr. Andrew Weil as well as local and national television.

I am a contributing author for hundreds of publications and websites on Integrative Medicine including:

  • Cosmetic Dermatology – Principles and Practice by Dr. Leslie Baumann, Director of Cosmetic Dermatology at the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, “Alternative Medicine”
  • Ask Dr. Weil at www.drweil.com
  • On the Cutting Edge, published by the American Diabetic Association, “Diabetes and Traditional Chinese Medicine: Managing a Modern Epidemic With Ancient Medicine”

Charlotte Trattner

CharlotteMy entire life, I have been living a health-conscious lifestyle. Not only is my mom a doctor of Integrative and Chinese medicine, but I am also hepatically challenged, meaning my liver does not process chemicals, food and other substances the correct way. This means that I must be incredibly knowledgeable about what I eat and products I use on my body. Fortunately for me, my mother raised me with a holistic mindset, along with learning tools to live a healthy and green lifestyle.

I am the founder of Just Like Me 2, a community service organization which mentors children with learning disabilities and speech impediments, two challenges that I know all too well, having overcome them personally. Diagnosed with Apraxia, a speech disorder over eighteen years ago, I am all too familiar with the trials and obstacles young kids have to overcome.  I have been honored with the South Florida Optimist of the Year award thanks to my work with Just Like Me 2, and honored by my city for my philanthropic efforts. Even speaking nationally at the Childhood Aparaxia of Speech Association for North American conference.

I have competed in several pageants, sharing my story of perseverance at Miss Florida Teen USA, Miss Teen United States and most recently at Miss United States Teen Earth as Miss Florida Teen Earth, where is spoke about healthy living and eating. It was at that pageant where I won the title of Miss Global Charity Queen US.

Currently, I attend the University of Central Florida on a full scholarship studying Journalism with the hopes of one day being a Broadcast Journalist. As a working model and a millennial, I am often exposed to growing trends in the health and beauty industry which may not be backed up by doctors or right for everyone. Along with my mom, we want to educate the public on these trends while promoting “green” beauty which is both safe and stylish, health and wellness.

There are countless of beauty products which are now being made with parabens and other toxic chemical which are being linked to a large range of health problems like neurological disorders, cancer and even learning disabilities. As a woman, I want to motivate other women to make changes in both their health and lifestyle. Haute and Holistic wants to educate and empower women of all generations to raise each other up instead of bringing each other down.
